It’s not as if you can really teach entrepreneurship

Everyone has a different way of “doing their thing” in my pre-punk, pre- romantic, pre-acid house, post-60’s vernacular.

That “thing” is the enterprise, the attitude, the execution and the style. You can’t guarantee a bestselling book or a hit song or a successful business but you can do everything possible towards that goal and take away every impediment that will block it.

I do think tech entrepreneurship can be inspired, and motivated.

Imagine a visitor arriving from outer space. “Where has the action been on this planet?” they ask. “Well, a fair bit of it on this tiny little island of the UK, top right-hand corner in the Atlantic Ocean, which has inordinate influence on the whole world,” it’s explained.

Maybe that’s arrogant, I don’t know. Like the American baseball “World Series” with only Americans participating. The point is how a nation of people or any group can grow a strong entrepreneurial spirit by motivating and educating its people.

To know where you are going, you have to know yourself and only then can you know where to go … and yes, that can be learned.

Everybody has goals, aspirations or whatever, and everybody has been at a point in their life where nobody believed in them.

If you were able to set yourself goals and then machine-like execute them, not wasting a moment, and a whole nation could do that, then what?

And then take away the machine-like-ness, and live a fulfilling life outside the mission too.
